CLAYMORDS - a Norwegian metalband!
Nils Ivar Martila founded the band in Bergen in the nineties. After recording “more sombre than life” they went touring for a few years in Norway (and Sweden). In 2001 the band broke up, right before releasing a full length album.
With a complete new line-up Martila started up the band again in Oslo. In 2009 the touring began. In 2010 Claymords released the album “Theories Written Black” After good reviews on the album, and passing 50 gigs (since 2009) the band was positioning them as strong live act. Claymords has visited Moscow, St.Petersburg, Finland (two tours), Sweden and Norway. On stage the band has had snakes, flames, poet and female duet partners (growling/clean). Intense energy, blistering guitar work by Sune Eggen and high quality entertainment is what you can expect at a Claymords gig. Claymords has appeared in every major media in Norway, known for being a different and bolder act.

Why Claymore ??
Claymore is a mine and a scottish sword.
I was an exchange student(92/93) in the US and was taking guitar lessons at Bob Beal(who mixed the theories written black album, 2010). My host "dad" for the year, Brian Anderson was kind of amused of this genre I played- DEATH METAL. He was more into beach Boys and surfing music. To continue to amuse himself on my behalf he tried to come up with a name like in the Cannibal Corpse, Obituary etc type-of-name. One day he said Claymores, I asked him what that is, he told that from his time in Vietnam he used to put out these. I asked him to write it down. He is dyslectic... he wrote claymords. I kept it, even when I found out it was wrong spelt a couple of years later. Funny story and, what I didnt know then- How google friendly it is...
